Does anyone know if Verizon Wireless will work on St. Croix? I am moving to the island and I presently use Verizon for my cellular provider.

My sister was recently down to visit with her Verizon phone. It does work on St Croix although their coverage is not the best. (She had to use my AT&T phone a few times) I believe you may face roaming charges. Best to check your rate plan before commiting.

Sure it will...for about $2/minute. :p

But seriously, STX is not a Verizon area. Only providers that really work are AT&T and Sprint, aside from the prepaid carriers. They'll let you out of your contract if you're no longer living in their service area, though.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will be switching to Sprint or AT&T.

Roaming charges apply to Verizon on STX. My son-in-law found out how outrageously expensive minutes are on Verizon here.

Because Verizon is not an on island cell provider, they will let you out of your contract without any penalties.
I think you have to prove your STX residency for Verizon.
Then you can sign up with an on island cell provider.
Good luck. You should have no problems.
