I'm not saying that this is not the right thing to do, IE., forgive the debt. But shouldn't there be some "strings" attached? If anyone knows, please let us all know.

Now maybe WAPA can forgive the VI gov.t. And this can go round-n-round until no one has any debt and we all start fresh ???

No strings were needed. It was just paper debt they were never gonna collect. Water long gone under the bridge.

It's the hospital's operating budget where the legislature can exercise control (and should have long ago).

Unfortunately, WAPA can't forgive the GVI. That money owed is what keeps WAPA owing Hovensa. Hovensa would need to forgive the debt. What are the chances of that...

80 million hospitals, 7 legislature, 4 lottery, 1 agriculture it adds up quick and all from our tax dollars, just saying. Then consider the 400 million borrowed to keep the bloated, dysfunctional government going at the status quo and I just feel ripped off.

Like the legislature has any control over their own budget...:P

Because of semi-autonomy, the legislators don't have as much "control" as they once did, and it is a good thing. If the hospitals could be run like a real health care provider, they would be much better off. There are something like 10 employees per patient and they can't get rid of any of 'em.
