He really likes STX. Tourism should get him to do a PSA.

so those jackasses are shutting down the airport from 1:30 to 3:15 on Friday?
what about Jet Blue and the American flight?
for a Vice President?
and I have to be over 3000ft to fly out east until Wednesday 10am.

Politicians are the new royalty in America. Cut the benefits of veterans but keep those perks, retirement packages and salaries for the politicians.

I wonder how much his Caribbean vacation cost the American taxpayer?

These people should have vacations. They should be on their own dime for the most part, but security is extremely important, what with them doing one of the most important jobs in the world.

I believe their own vacations are on their dime. The security is our responsibility, as is always has been.

American still shows the MIA - STX flight on time tomorrow, landing at 2:35. I imagine the commercial flights are exempt? I don't remember them getting cancelled in years past.

Like all modern presidents. Bush spent 5 times what Obama is spending on his trip to Hawaii on his trips to TX to the Crawford ranch. The subject of Presidential vacations is a popular sore spot in politics for some time now.

Didn't Biden come in a private plane last year?

Bush spent 5 times what Obama is spending on his trip to Hawaii on his trips to TX to the Crawford ranch.

Please provide your source for this.

It is my understanding that Bush is by far the leader in vacation days, however his vacations were spent primarily at his own ranch in Texas or his fathers compound in Maine or at Camp David. Obama on the other hand takes very lavish vacations in Hawaii (every year) and Martha's Vineyard and Cape Cod. He doesn't go home to Chicago.

The other difference is that Bush's vacations were lengthy. He would go somewhere and spend weeks. Obama on the other hand takes short vacations. Like his dream weekend in New York. Or his fantasy golf trip with Tiger Woods. One of the major costs is Air Force One which is said to cost $175,000 per hour to operate. I think that you could make 10 trips to Texas for the cost of one trip to Hawaii.

But the bottom line is that the real costs are hidden from us and not reported. Most is just speculation, that is why I would like to know your source for the cost comparison that you mention above.

Here you go. I suggest taking discussion under the coconut tree.

I saw that article but dismissed it. Politicus USA is an extremely left wing website. They call themselves "Real Liberal Politics". The article that you quote was written by an unnamed guest contributor and their sources were not named. How can you possibly think that this is a reputable source. Most of the links go to irrelevant websites and the ones that seem to be relevant are to other extremely liberal websites like Media Matters for America which also does not name its sources.

Please quote an article from a reputable source.

Nothing will be shut down. Read the whole TFR. Any aircraft, private or air carrier, that is on an IFR flight plan to or from STX is allowed:

No pilots may operate an aircraft in the areas covered by this NOTAM (except as described).
Except the flight operations listed below:

All IFR arrivals or departures to/from airports within this TFR.

Approved; law enforcement, fire fighting, military aircraft directly supporting the United States Secret Service (USSS) and the office of the Vice President of the United States, and MEDEVAC/air ambulance flights.

Aircraft operations necessitated for safety or emergency reasons.

Aircraft that receive ATC authorization in consultation with the air traffic security coordinator (ATSC) via the domestic events network(DEN).

It's just a shame that STX doesn't get more publicity about his visit each year. There was an article recently about the positive effect that Obama's vac in Hawaii has had, both in the increase in tourism numbers and in the increase in real estate values/sales...but you don't see anything much in the news about Biden. We sure could use the positive press.

Biden as well as Clinton, in the past, have rented in STT.
Privacy is what they wish for on vacation so doubt they will publicize anything beforehand plus the neighboring homes and entries to those homes if in a private location wll have a security detail assigned. If you don't belong in the area/neighborhood, you don't get in.

Who has or had more vacation days is immaterial in the grand scheme of things. I don't recent any President or VP from taking a vacation or using government funds or tools to do so. They work 24/7 with little to no time to themselves. So I say welcome VP Biden, I hope you enjoy your stay.

I would figure rather than worrying about who gets more vacation days, people would join together and picket the airport and roadways where they will be travelling with signs stating "WHERE THE HELL IS MY OBAMA CARE", "DID YOU FORGET ABOUT US?", "HOW ABOUT THE FOLKS LIVING HERE WHO DON'T QUALIFY FOR MEDICAIDE"?

This is a great idea!

And while those two idiots are spending millions having someone rub sun block on asses, federal unemployment extensions were not approved for millions of Americans. Gotta pay for their vacation some how.
