You need to have your electrician friend look at installing a new ground rod and testing your ground's resistance and seeing that it meets the NEC standards. One of the most important functions that a good grounds serves is that it will protect you from a neutral failing. While it can't completely eliminate voltage differences between L1 & L2 in your home it might have saved some of your appliances.

I always find it interesting that anyone that lives here and complains about island life and often real island problems is categorized as being bitter or unhappy living in the VI. I haven't heard anyone complain about anything that isn't true. Its the things we all b*tch about so why can't a local complain about local problems without be labeled as bitter or miserable? It is absurd. You usually hear about these problems everyday, just talking to people, in the coarse of conversation.

i don't have an issue of relating experiences, but i usually say something if the poster attempts to characterize all local workers negatively because of their bad experience. the poster 2 before you had a great experience with a woman at wapa, and the first crew followed up on what they could not fix... it was a tree on the line, who could plan for that?

i have had poor service experiences with a person telling me an apt. was available, i show up and it's not, but when i go around the corner and telephone to inquire, it is, and he tells me to come right over. can i now say all members of a certain skin color are racist, or should i say that person was a knucklehead and get on with it? this happened in new york, by the way. oh, i let him know i had just been there, showing my brown face and he'd just told me... and he stammered and stuttered. why would i want to pay rent to an idiot like that?

Anita, that's awful... a sad reminder that things like that still happen. However, I think it's awesome that you had the guts and the presence of mind to make the phone call!!

Customer service could be better at all levels. I have had days when every thing clicks and days when I spend 8 hours trying to accomplish something and never get it done. Yeah some of the people have additude but that's out of my control. For me all the good stuff diminishes the bad. Worry about only about things that you can control and go for a swim in the sea.

Hey Jim Dandy 🙂
Yeah, someone else told us to check the ground rod too. We'll get on that this week. Oh right after completing the 6 forms to renew our auto insurance so I can get a current carde and get the vehicles inspected and registered . . . huh? . . . in Maryland all they want is our money . . . and I do that online . .. LOL
Thanks!
