Hi all!
I've been reading this board for a while and have enjoyed reading all of your answers to the questions being asked. I've learned a lot!

I am interested in obtaining some information about the Water and Power Authority and how to go about inquiring about a job there. If I'm not mistaken the WAPA is a government agency and their employees are unionized. Is this correct? If anyone reading this board is employed by them, could you please contact me by e-mail so as not to bore other people on the boards. Basically, my company may be shutting down and I may be looking for work in the power industry.

Again thanks to everyone that participates in this board and asks questions and answers the messages. I think this is a great forum on what life is really like in the Virgin Islands!

Don

Hello Don,

You can try calling them at (340)774-3552 that is the connecting all lines operator number... don't ask them to many questions, just ask to be transfered to the human resources or the office in charge of hiring new employees. Perhaps someone else on the board might know the direct extention and can help you out.
Fax (340)776-2723

Good Luck!!

Here are a couple sites that talk about WAPA and Energy in the VI, not directly related to getting a job, but maybe might help with getting a background:

Islander,

Thanks so much for the information. No one has contacted me so far. I guess not to many people from the WAPA read this board.

As always, you've been a great help!!

Sincerely,
Don

Well, they certainly appear to need the help!

We've had power outages galore lately. Probably due to the torrential downpours...but outages come with great regularity here.

Good luck with your job search!
