Electricity, 110 or 220?
Other tidbits would be appreciated.

Hello T,

The main source for fresh water here in the VI is rain water. Homes are generally built with some rain water catchment system, for example gutters connected to pipes and a cistern or tank for holding the water. If your cistern water level is low you can buy water by the truck load. Some folks drink their cistern water, some don't. If you are renting an apartment you can ask your landlord if the cistern water is ok to drink.

Electricity is 110, standard US switches and outlets.

What other tidbits are you wondering about?

On our sister site to this one we have a page with lots of FAQ questions like electricity, water, what side of the road we drive on etc. You might check it out at http://www.vinow.com/general_usvi/faq/. And then on this site that you are on right now we have a statistics page you might look over too, https://vimovingcenter.com/statistics/.

Electricity is provided by an inept provider (WAPA). While recently outages have been less frequent WAPA is unable to maintain power at 60 hertz. This means your digital clocks don't accurately tell time and small battery charges fail prematurely.

WAPA also doesn't maintain line voltages at a constant 115 - 120 volts. It is not uncommon to see on certain feeders voltages as low as 80 volts.

Between the bad power and the climate electrical appliances and electronic equipment have a shorter life.
