Is it even remotely possible to get a job and place on Water Island as a long term thing or is everything seasonal?

Aeneas, there are rental units on Water Island including "The Casas" and folks that have rental units under, beside their homes or full house (though rental houses are very limited). Most Water Island residents' employment is on STT. Exit Zero is correct in that there are limited opportunities for employment ON Water Island. There may be some opportunities though. What are your skills? Construction? Cooking? Restaurant Server? Are you planning a move to the USVI/STT/WI or are you already there? It would be easier to secure rental if you're already on island and can meet face2face with owners to secure housing and definitely require being on site to secure employment.

Hi Aeneas! I just read some older posts and see that you have been in the construction industry and may be a handy guy to have around Water Island. If you're reliable and perform quality work, there are opportunities on Water Island for you. Can you build concrete forms? Can you do trim work? Can you design and build on the fly? Though, it will take a couple of jobs to build your reputation and, if reliable, good work and fair price, the cocount telegraph will do the rest. Once on island, the first place to start is to 1) post your name and contact information and the skills/experience that you have on the community bulletin board at the "post office" at Phillips Landing and 2) You may consider reaching out to the Water Island Civic Association web site administrator who may post your ad on the "Water Island Trader" site http://www.waterislandwica.com/WaterIslandTrader. Reputation and quality craftsmanship will build your "network" and you'll get busy on both WI and STT.

I saw there is an apartment available on Water Island yesterday . . . it was posted on the bulletin board at Tickles. I think 1 bdrm. for $1200.
