the 2 plus 2 club over by princess is a good place to dance, lots of well dressed locals seems to be safe and well run

There's an ad in the Avis - SALSA Classes
New Session begins Tues Nov 13
Tues + Thurs at Gertrudes
Beginners 5:30pm
Intermediates 6:30pm
info: 719.9940 or 332.6236
If you're not interested in the classes, someone there might know where to go dancing.

If you can round up some people who would like to get together for a latin dance night, you can likely then find a place that would be happy to welcome you on a regular basis. The second Thursday night of each month or whatever you work out, for example. Try contacting Alix at the Full Moon Beach Bar at Cane Bay at alix@fullmoonbeachbar.com or alix@secretretreats.com . She's setting up special events for the winter season and this might be a great addition to the mix of activities. They can clear tables away to open up a pretty large dance floor area.

Thank you Alexandra,

You gave great idea. We were doing same thing In Istanbul (30 million population) just I didn't think it would work in this small island ofcourse worth to effort. I need a dance partner who has been dancing for 2 years would be ok. I will work on the idea you gave. Thank you for your appreciation.

Best

Thank you for very helpful information Islandjoan. Salsa has 3 different style and my style is international. At least I can join the intermedium class to see what they do and hope to find a dance partner too.

Thank you

Sabor Latino, a Puerto Rican band, is playing 6pm tonight (Sun 11/11/07) at Coconuts, on the west end of STX. Outdoors, casual, good crowd last time I went. People even dance to the break music.

By the way I learned something again here, Sabor Latino is a name of the group not the place and they were playing in Divi Carina sometimes:)
