Just looking for any advice in relocating to st thomas. We have a year of planning so just wondering what obvious things we are going to overlook. Any tips are appreciated.

Read everything in the drop down menus at the top of the page, then ask your specific questions.

Number one deal breaker - no health insurance here unless provided by your employer.

Specifically, I'm trying to have a contact in st thomas to ask about local neighborhoods , who can answer if they are better or worse. Also a contact who knows about best way to find work.

See my post for "fantastic service for shipping and trucking on STT" That was our number one hurdle to overcome as we sent things down here. We shipped a whole pallet of stuff the first shipment that was 48"x51"x 8 feet tall and it only cost us about $350 from Miami. Trust me when I say that is well worth it. We shipped an entire kitchen the second time and the shipping was about $1500. I had the advice of a guy that has lived on the island for 43 years to go by for who to call for this or that.... without him we would have been lost.

Well this is a good site for those questions.
neighborhoods are diverse all over the island - if you have an address or Estate you will generally get help on specifics.
The best way to find work would depend on your qualifications and more so on your interests in occupation - you can get a service or retail sales job fairly easily when you are here - finding employment from afar is possible in some industries.

I prefer the North Side of St. Thomas, which is where all my family live and where I lived for many years. It's quiet, beautiful, friendly people or at least most of them and quite close to two of the best beaches on the Island, Magen's and Hull Bay.
