WE want to move but have 3 big questions

Me and my wife want to move to st croix from PA. I have been a chef for many years and ran my own bistro last year. With the buisness situation in pa becoming overly complicated and many people losing their jobs we had to close. My wife and me were lucky enough to find an apartment everything included for 900 a month from a private person but they need us to find jobs. Where can we look and how the apartment becomes available in july so we have a bit of time to look. The second question is it cheaper to sell our car and buy one there or not. Lastly after paying our rent and travel costs we will have an estimated 5000 is that enough to stay afloat or our we going to need some huge amount one person on another site said moving with less than 20k in savings is impossible. Please help and thanks

Good morning, first off, It can be done on 5.000 grand. You need to remember that really ,that is only a few more months rent and the
staples you will need to live. Bringing your car can cost around 1,900 to 4,000 grand, a lot of people sale them, and buy here. Food here
is much higher than in the states, but then again, no sales tax. Lining up a job as a chef should not be a problem, but it may take a week or three. I'm sure that you both would have to work, to live comfortable. If it's just the two of you, I'm sure you will be fine. If you have school age children it can be very expensive.

My big question is, did you already rent your place on the island? If not, It would be wise to come down and rent short term and then look for something long term. You could be renting a place that might not be what It seemed in the pictures, or is sitting in a bad neighborhood. Never rent sight unseen!

Here is what you need to do:
If you have never been here, do a PMV.
(www.carrervi.com) (www.vidol.gov)
and Vi daily news on line, and Island Trader, both are good and try craigslist too.
Just go to the top of this page and you will find lots of answers to your questions.

Good luck and welcome!
