I heard that Off The Wall Bar sold to an attorney from L.A. back in the early summer. Is it open yet? Does anyone know anything about what is going on with that?

It's sad to see, but not suprising. It seemed that they were in over their heads when I was there in Nov, Dec. I really liked them. How is the place doing? Do they still do the Friday night shrimp dinner?

They were in WAYYY over their heads. IT was obvious from the first few weeks. They were very nice people but did not have a clue about running/owning a bar. This is a cautionary tale and if Mikki still reads this board she would be doing everyone a favor to recount some of her and Jeff's experiences.

Linda is right. We were way in over our heads. Let me think about it and I'll tell you later about what happened. But anyway we miss all the people we met. And next time we'll buy that house instead. We are well however, but so cold (I know we're only in Florida - but hey we got acclimated)

PLEASE give some information as to what happened. I'm interested in purchasing a bar/restaurant myself, so some first hand info would go a long way into helping me decide what to do.

All I will say is that you need to get a real estate agent, a real estate lawyer and an accountant. Other than that because of our situatation I can cannot dislclose anything else.

There were no missed monthly payments (that pisses me off). We paid everything. The business was and is not making any money. We used our personal savings to make those payments. As of today the business is in the negative. As of today it is negative $100.00 while expats is in the positive. Which is Jim's business. So who is making out in this venture?

I feel like we're missing posts or the story. Who said you missed monthly payments? When you can tell your story I'm sure everyone will appreciate (especially those coming down to do what you did). It always makes me nervous when people come down to open a business or are bringing a large family. Both can be hard to do here as well as very expensive. I'm very sorry it did not work out for you and wish you guys the best.

Sorry, but Flounder (whoever that is ) on Feb 13th said something about missed payments. But we are doing just fine. We still have our house here and both still have our old jobs. Hey - we new we were taking a chance, but isn't that what life is? If you don't take a chance you never know!

flounder - there is definitely another entire side of the story that Jim would never tell you and his staff would not be aware of. And you may have met Mikki & Jeff at the bar, but it is unlikely that you introduced yourself as "flounder".

flounder - don't put me in the middle here buddy, read your previous post on this topic, it says..."they bought the lease in Aug and lost it in Jan....sobriety and missed monthly payments......... returned the lease back over to Jim....ahhh......another daytime episode of "as the anchor drags" ...........
so you see, silly, it has nothing to do with the PM you sent me.

apology accepted!!!

So, why doesn't someone go to Diane and ask her what happened? I hear that she is very reliable on info for the island....especially since she works there.
Let's find out the truth for once.
