So the Internet has benn down for 24 hours and their 24 hour customer service number has crashed. Are they out of business? Anyone else having trouble?

I left Choice many years ago. They are unreliable.

I have Choice Lite, and am online. Also have Max service and that is online. I did lose the Lite service a couple of days ago due to the storm in the AM. There was a lightning strike very close to my house and it fried the modem and my router (even though the rest of the stuff plugged into the serge protector was fine). At first their 220-2464 number wasn't working, but was working a day later. Call 774-0024 during business hours and see if you can get some help there. They had to reset my modem manually to make it work right again.

Finally got through to them this morning. Their phone system had been off line for at least 24 hours. Went through the every other month routine of the credit card didn't process correctly on the auto pay. This happens pretty often. They have no system in place to re-run the cards when they don't run well. No sorry for the inconvenience or explanation of the down phone service.

That is just one of the reasons I dropped Choice after being a loyal customer since it was Ackley Communications in 1995.

When this last new management took over and they started selling cell phones and raffling off cars, the internet service went downhill.
They would send out bills so that they were received after the payment dates, then they'd cut your service because you had not paid the bill you had not received - always on a Friday afternoon. You would then have no service tech to speak to find out why your service was down and you'd wait until Monday when someone might be available to help you after calling 5 or 6 times because all service techs "are busy right now" message. Don't bother leaving your number to have them call you back, they won't.

A simple fix to request them sending your billing by e-mail took 5 months and then the billing was always wrong.
The service was always going down. Nothing is more frustrating than being told to bring the modem in because service is working fine and dandy, getting there to find out the modem is working fine and dandy, driving back home and finding that your service is not working fine and dandy. Choice should stick to selling phones and leave the internet provider portion to someone else, because they cannot provide what they offer.

Using Choice turned into a frustrating nightmare.

Life has been much easier with Broadband VI.
Yours will be too when you switch to another service provider.

Funny, I am having nearly identical problems with Innovative Cable. I'm starting to think about satelite tv...

Go with DISH! If you're in a rental you'll have to get permission from your LL to have the dish installed but it's small and quite unobtrusive so that's usually not a problem. If there are other tenants they can also use the same dish and it stays on the premises when you leave so is an added extra which the LL can offer to others.

Dish and BBVI is the only way to go for TV and internet if you want anything resembling stateside service. There is no reason right now to go any other way. Dish is now a very small up front expense and very small satellite that can be mounted discretely anywhere on your house. We'll see what Innovative comes up with their EVO service but for right now its Dish and BBVI all the way.
