My family is coming to visit and besides the beach I can't think of anything for my 6year old brother to do. Any boats doing a snorkeling trip that is more kid friendly? I am lost for ideas. Someone please help. Thanks

Coral World Marine Park in STT. Fish feeding, Touch pools, Sea Lion Show, Feed the Lorikeets, check all the aquariaums, the tortoise section, lots of iguanas roam. Many attractions and things to do all in one place. Check their schedule for all their activities at:
http://coralworldvi.com/activities/
Butterfly farm and their parrot show in Havensight and the Sky Ride with the ferris wheel/Havensite location - all fun for kids.
Sugar Bay Resort used to have kids activities as well. Haven't been in awhile so don't know if they still do.

Islandlovin, I spent 20 minutes posting all the wonderful things to do with a child on St. Croix and my Mac kicked me off because of Malware on this site. I was going to attempt it again and saw you were on St. Thomas. In any case, no matter what island I will tell you that my son loves checking out tide pools, snorkeling, sea turtles, any kind of habitat for animals, birds, bats, hermit crabs, plants, sea shells, talking to fisherman, paddle boarding and exploring.

Actually coral world n butterfly farm for the funny bird show are the two things I did think of...lol
Thanks for the suggestions we were thinking alike 🙂 and sorry I should have posted stt as my location should have put that in my user name - cause I always assume everyone knows I am on stt. Lol I have no idea why I assume that. If anyone thinks of anything please let me know. I was thinking a boat tour with snorkeling would be fun if anyone knows kid friendly tours

I forgot to add that shooting spitballs at lizards is really fun. Sometimes the lizards will try and eat them. Spitballs are awesome. I carry some napkins and a few straws in my bag at all times. We also set up a target and launch the red seedpods from christmas tree palms with a slingshot. If all else fails, Angry Birds contest. We build things and launch coconuts.

Angry Birds on an ipad or iphone if you are all out to dinner and the boy is bored and has no beach or bush to explore.

I work here, of course. At Fish Tails, we have the most INGENIOUS spot for kids. A kid sized painted table, kid sized chairs, a small tv/dvd with kid movies (Little Nemo and Shrek kind of thing) and coloring books and a big bucket of crayons. Everyone loves this kid area -- parents, kids, the staff, and all others who are able to enjoy their meals!

Dive shops that rent snorkel gear from the beach always have kid-sized gear. Secret Harbor is a good beach with a dive shop, easy to difficult snorkeling (a good place to learn to snorkel), a platform you can swim out to and jump off, sometimes there's a guy with a dog who surfs (well, stands on the surfboard.)

If your little brother gets bored, my suggestion would be to duck tape him to the ceiling and line the floor with razorwire. Oh yeah, I am available for babysitting...BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!

Seriously? Shooting spitballs at lizards does not seem like fun to me but unnecessary and cruel. Consider the poor lizards trying to digest a spitball mass with all its attendant germs. Does that really seem like fun or funny? This is not a way to teach a child to have respect for God's creatures and wildlife. How would you like someone shooting spitballs at you or your child? What do you launch seed pods and coconuts at? Nothing living, one would hope! Show some respect to living creatures.

Sorry for offending you Alana. You don't know me or my son so in rereading what I posted I imagine it may seem cruel. In reality we have never actually hit a lizard with a spit ball, only launching them close by. They also don't actually eat them only licking the moisture off of them when it is dry. I don't have to teach my child to have respect for any creature large or small as he was born with an affinity for all living things. I still remember the day he was trying to save a baby iguana that had gotten caught in someones sticky mouse trap. Oh well doesn't matter. No use singing to choir especially way up high on that pulpit.

As for the seed pods and coconuts, I think I mentioned targets.

The post I made before the dreaded "spit ball" post, if you bothered to read it, suggested checking out all the wonderful, "Gods creatures and wildlife" on this island.

I don't know if you have ever raised a son or had a brother but such things as spitting spit balls and sling shots are great fun. Some girls quite enjoy it as well. It may be a bit disgusting or undignified for your taste but I do so enjoy a good spit ball fight. Mud and sand fights are fun as well. Disclaimer, when having a sand fight, goggles are required.

Soooooo, to answer your question, how would I like someone shooting spitballs at me or my child? Game on!

So glad to hear no wildlife is being harmed! Your answer seemed to indicate such. Sorry, spitballs were never my thing even being quite the Tomboy growing up with a group of male cousins. Now, water balloons are a different story....as was ground spider catching with blades of grass. (They got to back to their home after being caught.) We didn't have all the different things available these days to amuse us back then.
