What's Open Christmas Eve, Christmas Day?

Fourth trip to our all-time favorite island coming up and this time we're spending the holidays - flying in at 4:30 pm on the 24th and sticking around for the next 18 days. Aaaaahhhhhh!!!

Our question is - will there be any grocery stores open long enough after we arrive to stock up on a few days worth of provisions (mostly food 'n liquor)? Publix? K-Mart? Cost-U-Less? Or should we plan on finding someone on island to shop for us ahead of time? And any restaurants open on the 24th & 25th?

It would bother us not a whit if the whole island was rolled up tighter than a drum for the weekend - in fact we can't think of a better way to celebrate the holidays - but we just want to make sure we're not fasting until Monday either. Any advice?

Thanks in advance -

B & K

Which island? On STX, groceries are open on 12/24 (maybe closing early), so, depending on your arrival time, you should be able to stock up.

Most restaurants are open on 12/25. I would suggest a reservation because this is a busy day. All other businesses will probably be closed.

Sorry, that's what I get for writing posts in the wee hours. We're on STX, landing at the airport around 4:30.

To be sure, you could call the supermarkets directly, perhaps closer to Xmas.

On STX:
Plaza Extra West: 340-778-6240
Plaza Extra East: 340-719-1870
There are others like Pueblo and CostULess. The KMarts here don't have groceries, but they have liquor. There is no Publix on STX. You can get liquor at the supermarkets.

I would not say most restaurants are open on xmas eve, xmas, 2nd day xmas, three kings day,etc at all. If you have favorites I would call and ask. And then I would double check and call back two weeks before your trip that they will be open. Bring cash because the atms run out because the banks are closed for about 4 or five days, depending where the weekend lands.

Grocery stores are a different matter and should be open but with maybe shorter hours.

I'm pretty sure most restaurants will be open on those days. But you can certainly call and make sure.
