I have been reading everyone questions and responses about relocating to St. Croix over the last couple of months. I found some great information.

I have been vacationing in St. Croix on and off for about 10 years and have been following the recent changes. The new developer interests on the island, the magazine article promotions, etc. I'm coming to St. Croix in a couple of months to check things out before moving. Besides the obvious Chamber of Commerce, realtors, bartenders, shop owners, etc...are there other folks I could talk to to get the "skinny" on moving?

After living in Southwest Florida all my life...I'm looking for a place away from traffic, stress, deadlines, bad development, over development...I think St. Croix is it...it has the security of the US but the ambiance of the Caribbean...

I may have answered my question own question....just take the plunge and see what happens!!!! May be its time to just take a chance and have a new adventure.

Thanks in advance for your help...

Having been here a lot helps. But I would still suggest a 3-4 week PMV. Rent a car and stay at Cottages by the Sea. Get groceries and cook in most of the time. Get the Avis every day and look at apts for rent and help wanted. Make appointmest to see employers. Drive around a lot. Try to really get a feel for what living here would be like.

If you don't want to or can't do such a vist, at the very least store all your stuff, mail 5-10 boxes of necessities and come on down! Stay someplace cheap until you find an apartment, then take any job you can find until you find the job you want. After6 months reevaluate your decision.

These two plans supposs you don't have kids, pets, aged parents or major health issues.

That is great advice...kinda on the same lines I was thinking...a person can't really make a decision until you are "immersed in it".

I don't have any attachments so don't have to worry about anyone except me. My grown son and his wife think it would be a great adventure...they like the idea of having Mom in St. Croix so they can visit...LOL

Thanks

I offer monthly rentals at regular apartment rental rates, not hotel rates, so that's a good option for you, if you decide to come down and check it out for a while. My website is http://www.virginislandsrentals.com.
