I don't know where to start. I am a emergency room nurse practitioner who is very interested in living in st. thomas and I have no idea where to start. I have spent alot of time traveling in the caribbean and love it. I live in new york. Just wondering what people are like and how to begin.
thank you

I am in a similar boat. I have a move date and such, though me and my s.o. are having a hell of a time with rental info. it seems like there are plenty of vacation rentals long or short term, but finding anything valuable for perm moving is a pain. Can someone help point myself and sandibfnp1 in a better direction please?!

thank you.

sandi: You might start with www.rlshospital.org to check for jobs, also the HR phone numbers. The people are, well, IMHO, quite nice! 😉

ceramarie: In general, you will need to be here to find rentals. I promise, you will want to see it with your own eyes. Housing here is different from that to which you are accustomed.

Hello Sandi,

You might start researching the move by reading through some of the older post on the board (you can use the search feature to make this easier), also read some of the topics on the site itself (use the home link up at the top of this page and from there you can access categories on employment, apartments, taxes, other people's stories about their moves...), you might also get the Settlers Handbook to read over the familize yourself with (it's available on this site, shown at the top of the page), after reading make a list of questions you come up and ask them here, we will try and help. If you can plan an pre-move trip down to check things out (not a vacation), go to grocery stores, banks, the hospital that would be great!!

All the best!!
