Is there WiFi internet access on St. John? Just renting a place there for a week, but have to be able to get online.

Hi Deb,

Might want to check with American Yacht Harbor or Crown Bay Marina, both have
Wi-Fi and GreenFlash, an extended high speed system. Crown Bay I think
serves St John boaters, and I think the last time I used it it was $9.95 per day,
$29.95 per week, and $79.95 per month. You will need a wireless card, and they
have those as well.
Just check in at either marina, someone will direct you to the guy that runs the
network. Good luck, have fun and let us know what you find out!

Andrew

I believe Andrew is refering to:
GreenFlash Networks - http://www.greenflashnetworks.com/index.htm

Crown bay is on the south-west end of St. Thomas - its more likely American Yacht Harbor (on the east end) that might service St. John boaters since its much closer - but still some 2 miles of water away. Andrew, do they have a hub on St. John also that you know of or were you suggesting Deb utilitize the American Yacht Harbor area.

I had heard St. Croix was getting Wifi in some key areas- have you heard anything about this, I heard about it about a year ago but hadn't heard anything since.

Hi Islander...

Seasons Greetings and Happy New Year......as always, your the true source for all our questions...
I hope to be working with Brian (network owner on STT) and add GreenFlash to the StX yacht club when I arrive there. Nothing has been carved in stone yet, but one way or another, a system will be up and online shortly after I arrive (March?)....

Hope this helps answer some questions.

Andrew

Some general info about GreenFlash from their website....

Telephone: (340) 715-2398, GreenFlash at AYH
Mode:802.11b

Wireless cards for both laptop and desktops are available at both locations

Q: Is it possible to increase the range beyond the 2000 feet?
A: Yes. You may add an external antenna. If you do so the range can be up to several miles (and more)

Daily $9.95
24 hours of unlimited access. Grab your e-mail, check weather, and still have time to research your next destination.

Weekly $24.95
Seven days, that 168 hours of Internet. Got shopping to do?

Monthly $84.95
A full month of access with no possibility of overtime charges. Pull up a chair and get online.

6 Months $399.95
Looking for Internet access for the long term? Half a year of Internet at our best rate.
