Is there an industry for wine at all on the islands? Retail sales or wine tasting venues?

Liquor wholesalers/importers (Bellows International, Prime, etc) sometimes host promotional wine tastings at island venues but an "industry", no.

Ale House in Gallows Bay, St. Croix holds regular wine tastings hosted by popular Savant bartender Eric G. Ale House stocks some of the best wines in the VI.

Wines made from local fruits are sold at some farmers' markets and food events on both islands. They are mostly dessert wines because the ones I have tried are sweet.

I think Pistarckle Theater on St Thomas has a wine taste every year as a fundraiser. I went one year and it was a lot of fun.

They make wine from sea grapes, but, alas, the last sea grape trees in the VI were cut down on St. Croix
