Hello Everyone,
I have 2 questions Im hoping to get answers to...

1. Is wireless internet readily available in St. Croix? I have a really basic cell phone and was thinking about upgrading to a smartphone before my move. Is it worth it? While I have internet access like I would stateside??

2. I am reading that the average price for a studio or 1 bedroom apartment is between $800-1200. What about units that are close to the beach? Are they the same price? We are hoping to be within 1/2 mile from the beach.

All your help and advice is appreciated!!

Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,

I have an iPhone4 and love it!

I also have apartments, with wireless Internet included in the rent.

Right now, I have a spacious 1 bedroom, fully furnished unit running $1100-$1250, depending on the length of the lease.

Do you have an arrival date yet? Please check out our website at http://www.virginislandsrentals.com .

Let me know if we can help. [email protected]

We are coming the first of November.
We will be in touch as the date gets closer to see if you have units available. Out of curiosity, where is that apartment? How close to the beach? Downtown?

So, there is wireless around the island??

When you say wireless I'm not sure what you mean. We have Sprint 3G internet cell service and AT&T has their 3G equivelant. Choice also has a WiMax solution which may be ok as a mobile internet solution but wasn't good enough for me to make it my primary internet. "Smartphones" work fine here on Sprint and AT&T.

I guess I thought you needed wireless in order for smartphones to work. Thanks for the feedback.

Now, my other question.

How much is a studio or one bedroom that is close to the beach, within a 1/2 mile??

Our apartments are about a mile to the nearest beach. Our rents range from $650 to $1250 for efficiency and one bedroom units. Just depends which unit and the length of the lease.

Right now all I have is a spacious one bedroom unit that is $1100 per month for a one year lease, including Dish, Internet and garbage removal. I might have a smaller unit in November, in the $650-$750 range. I won't know about that until around mid-Sept., or so.
