Wisdom about and recommendations for chain link fence in STT?

I'd like to hear from anyone who has installed chain link fencing relatively recently about their experiences--what you learned, tips, was your experience good, bad, neutral, etc. I've had some work done and now want to consider a larger job, so I'd like to collect some names for more estimates as well as some fencing wisdom.

I've been "visiting" many of the chain link fences I see around STT for the past several months and I've found radical differences in, for example, the quality of the finish and the gauge of the fencing. I know, for example, that the inclines often present a challenge, but there seems to be wide variation in how that challenge is met...*-)

Thanks in advance.

Best,

I had to replace a section of fence when a tree fell on it, about 30 feet.. I have chain link around my entire property, 1 acre. It is 6 feet high with 1 and 1/2 feet of barb wire. Some places it is higher, 8 feet due to the ground. I looked around and determined that the best buy was at Out Of Stock Depot. The fence, as well as the pipe gauge, was a little lighter than what I had before. But I felt that I would put the vertical pipes in a little tighter and that would compensate for it. I would recommend that you put barb wire in the top. You can get that at east end.

Good luck

Thanks, billd. I had not considered the barbed wire, but you have a point. I'll factor that in.

May I ask, did you install your own, or is there a contractor you used?
