Wow...I can't believe how helpful this forum has been! But I have yet another question!! I was reading some messages under "Interesting editorial" and I found myself a little confused about where women stand in the VI. Any info on treatment and safety?
Thanks a lot,
AmyW

Not sure exactly what your question is but will try to answer based on having read the article in question.

The author was referring to the incidence of spousal abuse in the local population. Taken in context, you have nothing to worry about. Women are generally regarded with the same respect as is afforded to any woman in any democratic society. Hope that this brevity helps assuage whatever fears you might have had!

To add to what STT resident said, I've found that older women are treated with a little more respect in public here than in the states. Not that I'm "older" --- yeah, sure!! You do have to get used to being addressed as "Mommee".
