I have worked for a marina in the Great lakes of Michigan for 5 years and want to come down to the islands and live for a while. Does anyone know what the chances are or some connections to a marina that might need some help as a dock hand in the islands. Could use some help thanks. I have a four year degree is Parks and Recreation management. Maybe there is something else down there I could do in my field I don't know.

Thanks Linda I will check it out. It sounds from everything I have read on this posted pages its best to just come down there and look around while your there to find work. Its the best chances of finding something.

A couple of weeks ago there was an ad in the paper for dock worker at Crown Bay marina. http://www.crownbay.com/

I also suspect that the new marina Yacht Haven will likely have additional openings. They are just now going through their opening season and will likely have turnover. I would also think as stated above the National Park Service on St John wouldn't be a bad place to look either.
Good luck

No I am a contractor in WV that happens to hold a Master License. The wife and I are frequent visitors to the islands and plan to move to St Thomas in the not to distant future. My wife has actually applied for a couple of jobs already though it will likely we another year before we go unless she gets a real good offer. She is a computer programmer, systems analyst so her career takes precedent over mine. I will likely work on boats during the high season then do kitchen and bath remodels in the off season when we relocate. I do know a day sail boat at red hook if you are looking for one. Foreverever Young it can be booked through Interlines, I believe they are a sponsor here. Four weeks from today until we will back on island time for ten days.
