A disturbing topic

I have been almost 8 months and have witnessed something three times already that I only witnessed once in 42 years in the states. It is disturbing and I'm just wondering if this is "common" here. I have seen men masturbating in plain sight by roads. The first time was in front of El Cubano. He was far enough away to avoid details. The next time, just a few weeks ago was in the housing across the street from Lockhart Garden. His pants, mid day, were around his thighs and he was 10 ft from street. Just yesterday I saw a guy who at least kept his junk in his sweatpants flogging away by the road to Neltjeberg Bay. WTF is going on?

yeah, it happens. there was a guy on stx that hung out near the plaza extra east who would walk around without pants. mental health is a big issue here. there are no facilities for them here.

No facilities in the states either, I guess more space equals less "shows"

OMG! Good to know
Sparky which island are you on. I'll be moving to STX in the summer/fall with my 2 young daughters. I'd like to be prepared in case we see that site.

klpmtm - Prepared to do what?

Sparty, did you call police to report?
If not, maybe next time you should since you seem to run into this problem with some frequency.

Yes. Obscene and lurid behavior in public, indecent exposure, etc.

I understand that I just figured I would be wasting my breath. The police seem to be "busy" with other things. Next time I will call

By "prepared" I think klpmtm meant to be mentally prepared for the sight!!

I don't think anyone would be prepared for that sight!

I meant to be prepared on how to handle that conversation with my 2 daughters! LOL! I haven't had the need to educate my 10 year old about the birds and bees yet. Just wondering if I am going to have to speed up that discussion.

I've lived here for many years without ever observing what sparty describes. I don't think you'll have to rush your discussion on that account. IMO.

I've seen it a handful of times on St. John in my 16 years. Most notably was the time the homeless/mentally ill/drug addict was pleasuring himself at about 8:30 am ON the VI Dept of Tourism building. Try as I might, I'm never going to be able to erase that from my memory.

😀 The person noted above is a regular town wander, so I asked an officer to have a little chat with him about where there might be a more appropriate place to do that sort of thing. The next time I saw him do that, it was in the parking lot between two cars. So SEE! the police did have a chat with him! 😉

There were a lot of changes made to the park and the area in front of the tourism building that made things less comfortable for the homeless to hand out all day. They benches now have arms on them and the stone walls are curved making them harder to sleep on. A lot less gathering of the homeless in both spots now.
