It also emerged that Tsarnaev had discussed the Boston Marathon bombings with friends the day after the attack when he returned to the University of Massachusetts campus to use the gym.

Speaking to CNN, a friend claimed Tsarnaev said: “Yeah man, tragedies can happen anywhere in the world. It’s too bad.”

The friend went on to say that, other than appearing a little tired, Tsarnaev seemed otherwise “fine”.

Sound familiar......?

I think she is saying that people down here tend to say that the crime down here is not that bad compared to other places and crime happens everywhere. using an unfortunate analogy with the Boston bomber's statement. I say unfortunate because I REALLY dislike when people use tragedies or aspects of a tragedy to prove a point. There are many ways to make a point, and this particular analogy, especially given how fresh the event still is, is not right, IMO.

However, I do have to say that for some people, lackluster statements regarding the crime issue, are not necessarily indicative of opinions. Do I think crime is a major problem here? Yes. But no worse than in some parts of the US. Am I lackluster in commenting or writing about it online? Yes. Do I constantly think about it, write about it on the internet, scream "Everybody PANIC?" and beat a dead horse (no pun intended rearding the horse drowning) on crime topics? Most people I know down here do care about the crime issue, however, it does not define our every move or thought.
