1) Solve for the '?':

3889 + 12.952 - ? = 3854.002
A. 47.095
B. 47.752
C. 47.932
D. 47.95...X

4) What decimal of an hour is a second ?
A. .0025
B. .0256...X
C. .00027
D. .000126

The others I have no clue!

Question 1: YES!
Explanation:
Let 3889 + 12.952 - x = 3854.002.
Then x = (3889 + 12.952) - 3854.002
= 3901.952 - 3854.002
= 47.95

Question 4: Not quite; pls. recalculate. 🙂

#4 is C .00027

YES! - DanielB_STX

1/ 60 x 60 = 1/3600 = .00027

EXPLANATIONS:

1) Let 3889 + 12.952 - x = 3854.002.
Then x = (3889 + 12.952) - 3854.002
= 3901.952 - 3854.002
= 47.95.

2) 3.14 x 106 = 3.14 x 1000000 = 3140000.

3) 3/4 = 0.75, 5/6 = 0.833, 1/2 = 0.5, 2/3 = 0.66, 4/5 = 0.8, 9/10 = 0.9.
Clearly, 0.8 lies between 0.75 and 0.833.

4) 1/ 60 x 60 = 1/3600 = .00027

Great work!

The answer to #5 is A

YES!
Explanation:

Total number of votes polled = (1136 + 7636 + 11628) = 20400.
Required percentage = 11628 /20400 x 100 = 57%

2) D: Pitchblende
3) D: Diamond - from the element Carbon
4) C: 629.6357
5) A: Total number of votes polled = (1136 + 7636 + 11628) = 20400.
Required percentage = 11628 /20400 x 100 = 57%
6) C: 4.036/0.04 = 403.6/4.0 = 100.9
7) C: In this language, the noun appears first and the adjectives follow. Since agnos means spider and should appear first, choices a and d can be ruled out. Choice b can be ruled out because delano means snake.

#6 In nuclear physics, the island of stability is the prediction that a set of heavy isotopes with a near magic number of protons and neutrons will temporarily reverse the trend of decreasing stability in elements heavier than uranium. Although predictions of the exact location differ somewhat, Klaus Blaum expects the island of stability to occur in the region near the isotope 300Ubn.[1] Estimates about the amount of stability on the island are usually around a half-life of minutes or days, with some optimistic predictions expecting half-lives of millions of years.[2]

Although the theory has existed since the 1960s, the existence of such superheavy, relatively stable isotopes has not been demonstrated. Like the rest of the superheavy elements, the isotopes on the island of stability have never been found in nature, and so must be created in an artificial nuclear reaction to be studied. However, scientists have not found a way to carry out such a reaction.

6) Where is the Island of Stability?
CORRECT! In the Periodic Table of Elements.
Superheavy Element 117 ( which is a man-made element) for example, has a half-life of about 50 thousandths of a second - meaning that within that time about half of it will decay into a lighter element.

ANSWERS:

1) Radioactivity is a phenomenon of the spontaneous emission of
A. protons (alpha particles)
B. electrons (beta particles)
C. gamma rays (short wave electromagnetic waves)
D. All of the above

2) Plants growing on sand are called as
A. chasmophytes
B. oxylophytes
C. lithophytes
D. psammophytes

3) Out of the following, which is not emitted by radioactive substances?
A. Electrons
B. Electromagnetic radiations
C. Alpha particles
D. Neutrons

4) '.INI' extension refers usually to what kind of file?
A. Image file
B. System file
C. Hypertext related file
D. Image Color Matching Profile file

5) What does the term PLC stand for?
A. Programmable Lift Computer
B. Program List Control
C. Programmable Logic Controller
D. Piezo Lamp Connector

6) Where is the Island of Stability located?
In the Periodic Table of Elements
http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/superheavy-element-117-island-of-stability/

7) Reptile is to lizard as flower is to
A. petal
B. stem
C. daisy
D. alligator
Explanation:
A lizard is a type of reptile; a daisy is a type of flower. Choices a and b are incorrect because a petal and a stem are parts of a flower, not types of flowers. (Choice d) is incorrect because an alligator is another type of reptile, not a type of flower.

8) Yard is to inch as quart is to
A. gallon
B. ounce
C. milk
D. liquid

Explanation:
A yard is a larger measure than an inch (a yard contains 36 inches). A quart is a larger measure than an ounce (a quart contains 32 ounces). Gallon (choice a) is incorrect because it is larger than a quart. Choices c and d are incorrect because they are not units of measurement.

9) Here are some words translated from an artificial language.
slar means jump
slary means jumping
slarend means jumped

Which word could mean "playing"?
A. clargslarend
B. clargy
C. ellaclarg
D. slarmont
Explanation: According to this language, slar means jump. The suffix -ing is represented by -y. Since choice b is the only one that ends in the letter y, this is the only possible option.

10) Here are some words translated from an artificial language.
migenlasan means cupboard
lasanpoen means boardwalk
cuopdansa means Pullman

Which word could mean "walkway"?
A. poenmigen
B. cuopeisel
C. lasandansa
D. poenforc
Explanation: Migen means cup; lasan means board; poen means walk; cuop means pull; and dansa means man. The only possible choices, then, are choices a and d. Choice a can be ruled out because migen means cup.

WELL DONE ALL! 😀

YES. Exchange Force (tu)

Exchange Force:
The preferred meaning of exchange force is in particle physics, where it denotes a force produced by the exchange of force carrier particles, such as the electromagnetic force produced by the exchange of photons between electrons and the strong force produced by the exchange of gluons between quarks.

Coulomb Force:
The Coulomb force between two or more charged bodies is the force between them due to Coulomb's law. If the particles are both positively or negatively charged, the force is repulsive; if they are of opposite charge, it is attractive.

1. The branch of biology that deals wit the relations of organisms to one another and their physical surroundings.

2. A group of living organisms consisting of similar individuals capable of exchanging genes.
