I am seeking opportunities and events to help introduce and build my independent "thirty-one gifts" business in the USVI. I moved here 7 weeks ago for my husband's federal job with plans to keep my work-from-home position thriving. I have been hitting the pavement and talking to lots of folks but given the time of year have not found vendor opportunity events or job fairs or "parties-in-the-park" as hoped. Do any of you have ideas about where a new "local" can get a start? Thanks in advance!! 🙂 Angela

"... vendor opportunity events or job fairs or parties-in-the-park" ? I'm not aware that there's ever been anything like that but it would certainly be helpful to know which island you're on. There's a vendor's market in town on St Thomas but I believe there's still a long waiting list for spots. A new vendor's market popped up at Mandela Circle last year but has been scaled down. I understand it's being restructured so you could stop down there and find out the name of the gentleman who owns it. There's Tillett Gardens in Tutu which may have space available depending on what you have to offer.

Did you get whatever license you need yet?

You don't say which island. If STX, and I don't know what your product is, you might try the Saturday Farmers Market at La Reine.

This is really a slow time - oh, did you have a table at the Jump up last Friday? Another idea.

What exactly are you trying to sell?

They shut down alll the vendors at Mandella Circle and took down the kiosks there as there was no business happening, much to the dimay of everyone renting there.

If on STT, you could try contacting Yacht Haven Grande as I believe they have a "Farmer's Market" type thing on Sundays but do not know how frequently they do this, whether it is every Sunday, once a month, twice monthly, etc.. It is now, officially off-season so many businesses tighten their belts until high season comes back around mid. Nov.

Some things that work in the states won't fly here so good luck.
And as OT asked............be sure to get a business license.

If she's interested in that sort of thing, the OP should go down there. Yes, the original structures have been removed but the owner has plans for a very similar venture in that spot but with a different twist. A friend of mine rented space there and was telling me all about it a couple of weeks ago.
