The other fine day, I was enjoying one of "Quality's" fine products and as I was salivating... anticipating the first bite, several(4) large trailer loads of palatalized old tires passed.....
I am curious to know the history of shipping old tires off island and why they are not recycled here on STX? Does anyone on any island have knowledge of this practice? There are so many questions that come to my feeble mind I thought I would tap into the vast knowledge of this board......thank you.

I think they head from here to PR. I recall seeing the palatalized tires sitting down by gallows bay dock so I guess PR would be the logical next destination.

no facilities to recycle tires here, or bottles, or cans, or anything but consume and make money off tourists (or subsidies rum)....
so," lack of infrastructure" is the answer to your question
