That's federal law.
There is an exception in the law if you have 4 units or lessat one address and you (the owner) is living in one of the units. In that case, the federal laws do not apply and you are free to discriminate against children, women, etc.
She's not discriminating. She's looking for a handyman to trade some work for rent.
I believe steph's question is "why not a handywoman?"
And I was pointing out that such laws do not apply if you are renting a unit in your own home.
How much would it be without the handywork? Or are you only looking for that? I have a friend coming down in 2 weeks - he is a man but won't have time to do things around the house, and is in need of a place...
Asking rent BEFORE reduction for handy man gig is $750.00, including all formentioned and 200 security..
