I hear about people getting great deals buying used cars at the car rental places all the time, but when I call they have nothing for sale.
Does anyone know of any car rental place with cars for sale now?

The key is often going in person -- but usually they sell when inspections are due, which is usually off season.

I purchased my vehicle from Judy of Croix on STX. I got a great deal.
I found that by finding out the names of the rental companies, and looking for their websites, you can generally find out what is for sale. I hope this is of some help~!
