Cat On STT Needs Help!

Hi, all -
Hoping that an animal lover on STT can help with this situation...
Seems that my neighbor has abandoned her 13-year old cat, which I've been caring for over the past few weeks.
Unfortunately, my roommate is highly allergic to cats, so keeping him with us is not an option. I'm afraid if I take him to the Humane Society, he will be put down, and I just can't bring myself to take that step.
Soooooo, if anyone would be interested in adopting him, please post here or PM me - I'll bring him to you, along with a supply of food and toys.
Thanks in advance!

You have no idea how I hate to hear these kinds of stories. The previous owner should be put in the stocks.

I need another cat like I need a hole in the head and my place is NOT an option. Is he neutered?

If anybody out there with a home can be of some help, please respond!

I adopted "George" when he was already over 16 years old under sort of similar circumstances except that his owners hadn't left island,

George not only quickly adapted to everyone else but he was the ultimate elder statesman and raised several kittens and also survived Hurricane Marilyn on September 15, 1995. I should stop right now because I already wrote the story on this forum a while back and anyone interested can do their research. Suffice it to say that George died peacefully encircled by the feline "kids" he'd helped raise

Again, I can't imagine the perspective of anyone leaving island and leaving behind any animal, period.

Just my stance, Chees, dear!

Hi there,

Why don't you give a call to the Humane Society first and ask if they are a "No Kill" shelter.

I am not on the Island, but we are to arrive in Jan. or I would be glad to help. Is it possible for you to keep the cat outside till you can find someone who might be willing to adopt him?

I hate these stories and my hat is off to you for caring for this creature!!!

The Humane Society of STT is unfortunately NOT a no-kill shelter.

Thanks for the responses, folks - still looking for a home for this cat, so if you can possibly help, PLEASE respond as soon as possible, as the clock is ticking!

He's very sweet-tempered, and is, I believe, neutered. Unfortunately, I don't have any secure outdoor space on which he could temporarily live...just a deck...and I'm afraid he'll run off if I keep him out there for any long periods of time unattended.

I believe the owner is still on island and if/when I see her, I'll make sure she's put into the stocks immediately, STT, but I'm gonna tar and feather her first!!!!

Well guys, it looks like this cat is headed for the Humane Society; my landlord is fumigating and cleaning my neighbor's apartment today, and since there haven't been any takers, we have no other choice )-: )-:
Thanks to all who tried to help!
