I need approximately 10 chickens removed from a property in the Orange Grove (STX) area. There are a few roosters, several teenagers, and a mother hen with about 5 children. If anyone can help me please contact me at 340.227.8574. Thanks!

Feed them pieces of bread soaked in rum. Wait for them to pass out and then relocate them.

You can rent traps from your shelter, probably.
The chickens and roosters like cat food and while you can use dry, the trap leariest of them will forget all caution for the canned, wet stuff.
Find a chicken farmer with a no escape pen (top, bottom and 4 sides) to hand off to.
Relocating them elsewhere just makes them become someone else's problem and is totally irresponsible!

You can also try to contact Bethany Bradford who is the Agriculture Dept. Vet. and she may know someone to take them or will euthanize humanely. Ask Ms. Bradford about traps as well as sometime they have them.

I bought my own trap a couple years ago to restore peace and quiet in my location and still have it as one never knows when one will need it. I found a farmer on properly zoned agriculture land to take whatever chickens or roosters I trapped as per above.

@alana33 [b]Relocating them to someone that wants them is not irresponsible. You are jumping to conclusions.

Relocating elsewhere to someone that wants them and is on properly zoned land to keep them is totally responsible.

Why don't you catch them, and cook them. Back in the late 60's had there been free range chickens roaming around the islands like there are now, I'd have been frying me up some chicken, backing some chicken, making chicken and dumplings, stewed chicken in tomatoe sauce with onions, green peppers over a bed of rice. Yummie!

Check out your area for some Hatian people, they will come and clean up the chicken problem in short order.
