Collecting Items for Guatemala

A group of 18 young people (9-17yrs) will be going to Gutaemala on June 13th for a three week mission trip. They will be working with oprphangages, schools, and street children. Below are items that are greatly needed in the villiages that will be going to. Guateama is very poor, the average day laborer makes $1,600 a year....

Below is the list of things that we are going to be collecting to bring down.
If you have anything that you would like to donate it can be brought to the Youth With A Mission base in Sunny Isle (behind K-mart appliance). You can contact TJ at 340-513-2024 or Cherilyn (after the 29th) at 340-332-0654 with any questions.

• School Supplies (Notebooks, pencils, crayons, etc)
• Gently used Children’s Clothing (Infant to 12yrs old)
• Children’s Shoes (0-12)
• Bibles (Spanish)
• Diapers
• Baby Formula
• Spanish Children’s Books
• TOYS!!! (Infant to 6yrs)
• Gently Used Backpacks/Purses
• VITAMINS!!!! (Children & Adult)
• Soccer Balls & Kick Balls
• Stickers
• Face Paint
• Nail Polish & Hair bows

• We will also need money to buy 2 swings and 2 small basketball hoops for a local preschool.

Again, always best to specify which island when looking for something! But since you said, "Sunny Isle" I know it's STX.

Maybe a long shot but you might check with the "thrift" organizations on STX as well as the Queen Louise Children's Home. I'm more familiar with those on STT than STX but often these organizations and thrift centers can't sell or use donated items which end up in the dump when they may well be totally useful to a project such as yours.

This is going to be a very life-changing experience for many of the participating youngsters. All the best and good luck!
