Greetings all! Another day closer for me til I get there. I was curious how far it was from the Ferry Dock from St John to the Marriott on Frenchmans Cove. I was looking to live on St John and work at the Marriott. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

CIAO!

That is a long commute - Ferry ride then a 20-30 drive to the Marriott depending on traffic. I drive from Frenchman's Bay to the ferry every morning and the drive is 18 minutes. Marriott is another 10 minutes past my house.

Hmmmm not what I was hoping to hear. So in real time how long is the process of riding the ferry. I looked at ferry schedules and got their time. I was curious how smooth the ferry system actually runs down there. Maybe I will have to reconsider my idea of living on St John and working on STT.

Thanks for your help

Joe

Yeah, I wouldn't pin my hopes on living on STJ and commuting...I mean, sure, you could do it..but a 20 minute ferry ride, then at least half an hour to the Marriott...that's assuming the traffic isn't backed up by the dumpsters (which is frequently is). That could add another 10 minutes to your commute. Another thing to consider would be finding parking for your vehicle on STJ in the morning (good luck)...and the cost of parking for your vehicle on STT. If it was me doing the choosing, I'd choose to live on STT to work at the Marriott...or buy myself a boat to commute with....but that would be another pain in itself (mooring, waves, weather, etc.)....

I appreciate the responses on this. I am trying to be as prepared for the unexpected as I can get. Life is an adventure and its fun being spontaneous but you cant be stupid about it either. So I guess is there housing available in that area, and is the area more rural? I guess since I have to change my plans around a bit I need to figure out the best area to look for living compared to where I am working.

Check out the Trader on-line...usually plenty of apartments in Frenchman's Bay/Bakkeroe area:
