hi. i am looking for a future roommate on stx (sept 08). this is pretty far in advance, but i wanted to throw it out there and see if anybody was interested. i am 22 year old male. very clean and responsible. don't smoke, but wouldn't mind if roommate did. i don't absolutely need a roommate, but think it would make the living expenses much easier to handle. so maybe someone who is in the same situation.

Hi Kasey. I am not sure about my budget situation, except that I plan on it being low. I have a good paying job now and plan on getting a second job soon. This is all in order to save up for moving down. So by September I should have plenty saved, but I don't know what I will be doing when I arrive. And I do not have a degree, so I don't expect to get anything high paying. But if I were to live in a three room place with you, that would make the expenses much easier to handle. So i guess the best thing I can say is I am very interested, but I plan on keeping my budget as low as possible until I get settled in. I don't know how that would work for you guys. And you are going in January. Are you talking about getting a three bedroom place and waiting on me to arrive? Just let me know and I'll get back with you.

-Trey

made a mistake. when i thought of you and your boyfriend and me i was thinking three people and i guess a three bedroom place popped into my head. but i'm sure yall would be sharing a room. so it would just be a two bedroom place. just clearing that up. but i still feel the same about it.

Hi guys.
Just a thought....you might want to mention which island. If not mistaken, it seems from previous posts that Kasey is talking about STT and tmleeke is talking about STX. Kinda tough to be roomies.

Hello My name is Fletcher and I am graduating from school this spring or summer. I am a 27 year old male, and I want to move to St. Thomas next fall, my plan is to save money all summer and then move, Sept sounds like a good time to go. I agree that it would be a lot less expensive to find a place with a roommate. I'd like to start planning this soon, so if you're still looking for a roommate when you move down there let me know, my e-mail is fjb005@hotmail.com

I am open to STX I heard it was cheaper, the only reason I thought STT would be good is because Red Hook is supposed to be a good place for younger people

hey guys.
Lindsey- i am talking about sept. 08. so i will not be there for almost another year. sorry about your house deal.

Fletch- if you really would want to go to St. Croix then this might work. but i don't want you changin your plans just to have a roommate. from what i've looked into, STT and STX are pretty different places. but my choice is definately STX. so you might want to look into the differences a little more before you decide. or maybe you already have. but just get back with me when you know for sure.

Hey I have heard just recently how different they are, after looking up some stats, I am convinced that STX is better, less touristy and not nearly as crowded, so if you are still looking for a roommate let me know it would be good to plan on having a roommate who has the same agenda.

hey. how sure are you about this move? i am sure you are as excited as i am about moving to the islands, but i am just curious about what you have posted.

you said you were planning on saving money next summer. but you also said you were graduating next spring or summer. so, if you have to take summer school how will you save for the trip. i'm sure you can work and go to school, and may already be doing so, but a part time job for a couple of months won't give you much to work with. from what i understand it is a good idea to arrive with enough money to live off of for 2-3 months. not to mention getting set up with place to live and deposits, usually including 1st and last months rent plus security deposit.

also, you initially said you wanted to move to STT. then changed your mind within a few days. i am not questioning your decision, because i have also chosen STX, but it seems like you flip-flopped pretty quick as though you haven't really looked into either in much depth.

i am not trying to discourage you at all. because if this works out then we will both be helping each other out. i'm just saying what came to mind from our few short posts and want to make sure we're in the same boat here. talk to you soon.

Hey ,

Don't worry about me saving up enough for the trip I have already started that, I don't know much about either island only what I have read, and some things say different things. I've heard that one Island is safer than the other, then the other way around, I have never been to either, At first I thought STT would be better for jobs and everything, as I read I learned that it sounds like a overpopulated touristy place. So that's really when I changed my mind to STX, what made you chose STX?

the idea first got in my head about a year ago when i was at my buddy's house. i was talking with his dad and somehow we got talking about his brother (my friend's uncle), and he mentioned he lived in the virgin islands(STX). i love to travel and have always wanted to move off somewhere and make a life of my own.

i've grown up in middle class america, gone to elementary school through college without a problem, worked multiple jobs, and have never really been in need of anything, except for the things i "thought" i needed. i don't want to sound ungrateful, because i know how blessed i have been. but i also know how unfortunate so many are. and honestly, i feel bad for what i have.

i realize we all just got here and don't really have much control over the situation we are brought into, but we can change that situation along the way. and since i don't have the monetary resources to give to others in need, i feel i should get rid of my own excesses.

i also love the outdoors and beautiful scenery. so with the combination of these things, the virgin islands seems like a great place to try. and STX seems the best choice for the lifestyle i am looking for. it's larger than STT with less people and much more natural scenery to take in. i know i may be coming off a little "hippyish" (not to offend any hippies), so i don't want you to jump to any conclusions about me. you could actually pretty much consider me a "country boy". i've grown up in mississippi, have hunted and fished since i was young (though i don't anymore), drink beer, and most of my summer jobs, including the job i work now, are in construction.

you probably didn't mean for me to go into depth like i did, but you asked, and there it is. talk to you later.

Hey

I can understand where you're coming form with all that. You said you grew up in Mississippi I lived in Alabama for a couple of years actually spent my first year in college down there. I have been talking to someone who wants to move down there in early next fall too, she's open minded to any island. She is going to visit in may and let me know what she thinks of the options, if you want we could all get together and pool our info and resources, let me know what you think,
