I am having a hard time finding a long term apartment in advance. Everyone keeps telling me to look once I'm on island. Does anyone have any info on a hostel or cheep hotel I could stay at until I find a long term apartment? I'm looking in the Red Hook or St John area.

Try Pirates Cove Marina for temp housing. I have heard that their rates are reasonable.

Hi RFW,
The first thing is you must decide where you want to be, STT, STX or STJ. Don't worry about coming here prior to finding a place. If you come, you will find housing the same day if you want to. Also, plan on having enough money for cab rides or a cheap island car for a few days at least. As cabs and safaris can be costly, you'll want a vehicle asap. The biggest thing to consider however is what you are going to do for work. There is work to be had but money can be drained VERY quickly so don't wait too long. You might find suitable short term housing at Pirates Cove but also check the 2 island papers for listings; http://www.virginislandsdailynews.com and http://islandtrader.vidaily.com

I have been looking on line for info on Pirates Cove, but can't find anything. Does anyone have a link or any suggestions on where to get info? Thanks!

I am pretty sure that the rooms at Pirate's Cove are no longer rented. They are under major renovations. Nothing cheap about the VI! 😉 Have you checked with Ronne and Villa Fairview? Also, you can camp at Cinnamon Bay.

The villa fairview is where I will be staying the price was cheap for the VI and it included everything even cable. He also picks you up from the airport!
