hi everyone,

my husband + me + mid-size dog will be moving from brooklyn to st. croix around july 15.

in an ideal world it would be a house or condo (not sure if possible with dog) with ocean view, and have at least 2 bedrooms...furnished or unfurnished is fine.

please post or pm me if you know of anything that may fit our needs.

many thanks in advance.

How are you going to bring your dog down in mid-July...hopefully under your seat on the plane cause the airlines have an embargo on baggage till Sept 15th. Good luck

hi charlotte,

actually, i spoke to continental and they have no temp. restrictions as transfers and cargo have a/c. we'll fly from newark and it's a direct flight to PR. we're still looking into/researching options from PR to STX.

we got the final go ahead from my husband's company last night so will be scrambling to get things set up...

thanks!

Do you have a price range for your ideal abode? A little more info may get a better response. Although it will be difficult to find a place off island. Maybe try for a short term rent that will accept your pet anywhere and than, once on StX, work on a long term rental...

Any other concerns?
P.S. Charlotte, Continental will take the big bucks for temp cont and ac in the cargo hold for animals. Don't assume that something can not be done because the majority won't.

I used Cape Air to fly my dog over from Puerto Rico. They were really wonderful about everything.

thanks for your posts! melody, when did you fly cape air? how big is your dog? i spoke to them and they only accept small dogs/crates for small dogs under 35 lbs. and i was told that the carrier used for mid-large size dogs is too big for the sju-stx route. i have a few leads to other airlines that i'm working on...

eva, we're prepared to spend about $1,700/month for hopefully a house or guest cottage. something near the beach would be ideal but we'll see. my husband is on island monday-friday so he can check things out during the week. he's been commuting during the week since september and i've been out to visit a few times.

I have a minature snauzer but he had a big cage. Someone on the message board informed us that the pilot she flew with allowd her to take the cage apart for a bigger dog and I an't remember what other accommodations were made. I'll be happy to go and toalk personally to the Cape Air airline people and a pilot for the airlines and see what I can come up with.

thanks for the offer, melody! that's so nice. since my husband spends some QT at the stx and sju airports every week i'll have him talk with the cape air people. maybe the local pilots allow kennels larger than 27x20x19. if he's unable to do it i'll let you know.

at this point there are a few options...i'm just trying to find the one that's best for our doggy. carib. sun will do it but the cargo does not have a/c and they have only one flight/day which is at 1:55 (so HOT).

i'll post the options i find so others can use them.

now about that house...

Hi, just thought I would ask if you know of any 2-3 bdrm houses with a pool that accepts pets (small poodle) for rent in St. Croix. Failed to mention fully furnished if possible. Thanks.

Grace

Do you still have this place or others available for July? We are looking for a cat friendly place with a nice view, nice breezes. We specifically really need a queen sized bed for a couple to sleep comfortably. My husband and I are already on island but have had some housing problems.

We can go up to $1500 per month-- prefer washer/dryer in or near unit please. Please send email to kausa10@yahoo.com with all serious offers!

Thank you!
Jennifer
