hello all. the family and i are STRONGLY considering making the move. the only thing that is giving me pause is the small (hahaha i know) factor of employment. we aren't independently wealthy, so i will have to work to support the family. i'm gathering that finding good employment (such as any type of professional job) prior to the move isn't going to happen.

so the reality is figure out how much savings we are willing to blow through, make the move and pick up any type of job that i can while i look in professional areas? is that accurate?

thanks!

It may be possible to find employment prior to moving. Just depends on what you do. For instance, not only does Hovensa hire from off island, if you are qualified for a management position, they fly you down for the interview, and if hired, pay moving expenses, and more. (They aren't hiring too much right now, but you could check). Some of the larger, high end resorts often bring management in, the major banks do that too. I have personally known people hired from off island by quite a few different companies. Again...depends on what you do and if your qualifications match the opening. What is your field?
