Good Luck! You REALLY need to be on island to find something in a safe, desirable area. Check this board for messages from Alexandra. She's a great realtor on island and will be a good resource. It's difficult at best, if not impossible, to find something while you're off island. Bear in mind that Hovensa (the oil refinery) is in the start up stages of a huge turn-a-round/shutdown and they've brought tons of contractors in. From my understanding, housing is VERY tight right now and will continue to be so thru the summer.

You will probably need to "UP" your rental price. Utilities (especially electric) are extremely high. If you're expecting to find something with bills included I wouldn't count on A/C, internet, or cable. Although I'm no expert. Again, this is my understanding/opinion.

Yes, make sure you have enough to be able to stay in a hotel for a while. Once you are on island, word of mouth is your best resource... start telling everyone you know what you are looking for. The rental price does seem pretty low, expecially if you include utilities. I would guess you could find something for 1200, without utilties included.
And I agree with TxSissy... Alexandra is a wonderful resource.

Side note: I thought the Hovensa guys were leaving on June 9th? Or is that just some of them?
