I'm planning to move to St John in February and am looking for an affordable place to live. I'm also looking for a job. I have a Biology degree and have worked in the medical device and pharmaceutical business. I've also done everything from cleaning houses to waitressed over the years.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Alyssa

Yolanda,

I'm open to having a roommate. I'm 39 (no thats not old) and I'm going down there to relax for a year. My likes and dislikes......well, I love to mountain bike, paint, watersports and the beauty of the Islands.

Have you had any leads on jobs. I'd consider working on a charter boat. I lived on St Thomas and worked on a Yaght about ten years ago. It was a great experience!

Hope to hear from you soon.

I'd recommend staying at someplace like the Inn at Tamarind Court (776-6378) while you look for a place to stay. Your best bet is to get out there once you arrive on St. John, talk to people, and check out bulletin boards at Connections and Starfish Market. You'll have a lot more luck finding a place to live once you're on island. Good luck!

Keep in mind theses are just my feelings:
Tamarind court is not as cheap as you might think! and small try samuels cottages more room and cheaper.
Also Cinnamon Bay Camp has cabins during off season that are reasonable, but you need to take a taxi and or have a car.
But the best way is to stay with someone who is already there and established , if you know anyone.
Having lived there i think its best to try and rent the place that you are going to be in permantly ,it may save you some money.
