Need Some Advice on Relocating...

I have been reading all of the information that I can get on moving to St. Thomas. My head is spinning !!!

I am looking to live as close to the beach as possible (won't have transportation right away). I realize the whole place is a big beach. I need lots of life, meaning shops, restaurants, bars, etc. What area would you recommend to accomodate this?

I would also be looking for a room to rent or a rental to share in this location. I want to experience the island for a bit before making a bigger financial commitment. Where would I find info on this subject?

From everything I've read, employment seems to be a relatively easy find once your feet are on the ground. I am moving to get out of the rat race and a simple job will do just fine! Any info to push me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

I am planning on being in St. Thomas the first week of June.

I imagine there are many people on here who have moved to STT from the states. I just need some good advice and a sense of direction. I am in Buffalo, N.Y........ YOU ARE IN PARADISE !!!!

Thank you so much.....Bobby

THERE ARE 43 BEACHES HER, WHERE THE ISLAND IS 3 MILES WIDE, BY 12 LONG...HARD NOT TO BE CLOSE TO A BEACH...AVOID TUTU OR BOVONI...MAYBE NADIR...OTHER THAN THOS EAREAS, YOU'LL BE WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE FOR THE MOST PART...HITCH HIKING IS COMMON HERE.

I need lots of life, meaning shops, restaurants, bars, etc. What area would you recommend to accomodate this? ANYPLACE ON ISLAND HAS THAT.

GO TO WWW.VIRGINISLANDSDAILYNEWS.COM AND CLICK ON "ISLAND TRADER"...LOTS OF STUFF LISTED THERE.

GET A HEALTH CARD WHEN YOU GET HERE AND LOOK FOR A JOB ON A BOAT OR AT A BAR OR RESTAURANT...WON'T BE HARD...YOU COULD ALSO WORK IN A RETAIL SHOP (MOSTLY JEWELRY) VERY EASILY.

HAVE YOU MADE A PMV FIRST? IT MAY SEEM LIKE PARADISE WHEN YOU ARE ON VACATION...BUT LIVING HERE IS A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT.

Thank you so much.....Bobby

GOOD LUCK TO YOU, BOBBY.

Hi Bobby

Many of us moved from the mainland to here. It may seem like Paradise at first but as you remain here some harsh realities set in. It is very costly down here (I moved from nyc). You may want to look into the island trader and get a studio instead of renting a room. Come down to visit and make sure you ask around. Sooner than later you will need some sort of transportation.

Good luck
