Call or check the thrift shops first. Call the dept of health. There is a dept. that address disabilities they are supposed to distribute assistance devices to everyone who needs them regardless of income. I'll look around and see whats available in my paradigm.

Pamela, I sent the walker and wheel chair back to the states with my mom but I have a motorized scooter, shower chair and an oxygen consentrator still here on stx. My mothers illness was lung disease so I have all kinds of stuff for that. The scooter is awesome and hardly used but because it hasn't been used in 2 years it needs new batteries.

Pamela: There is a loan closet through TADA, a not for profit group aimed at helping people with disabilities. I think walkers and wheelchairs are in short supply, but you might try to call Eileen Short at the hospital: 776-8311 ext 2018 and see if she knows.

Thanks to all concerned. We have now acquired a wheelchair (should have on Monday) and a walker with wheels no less (pick up tomorrow) and a few other odds and ends we need for this last stage of his life. WOW! You guys are just great! Thank you!
