I have, this past week alone, done 3 Pre-Purchase inspections on cars for people from the board...if anyone needs to have an independent mechanic check a vehicle over prior to purchasing it on STT or STJ, PM me and I will give you further information. This is a flat $40 charge...takes anywhere from 1/2 an hour to an hour and half, depending on the vehicle...
(Islander - if this violates any rules on the board, please feel free to remove this post, as I don't want to break any rules....I know that soliciting for business is not allowed, but, at $40, I'm not really doing it for ME! Haha! Just offering a service to board members...let me know! Thanks, Islander!!)

Sounds cheap for that service!
I`ve done the same for friends here, which usually ment renegotiating the price way down most of the time as I always found problems.
I`m also not in that business (& I don not wish to be).

I try not to get in between the buyer and seller....really none of my business, ya know? I mean, sure I'll offer my thoughts on it's value....but what is valuable to me may not be as valuable to the purchaser. Community Motors' Service Department sends folks my way, as well, and I have told them that all I will be is 100% honest....I take the 'independent' part very seriously...
