Good day.

We are looking to have Dish Network (1 DVR and 2 or 3 receivers) installed in our home. We know the cost and are trying to find someone that may be able to install it in the next week or two. Does anyone know who does this on STT?

Much appreciated.

Go to the Dish web site and there is a way to locate installers in your zip code. There is a good promotion going on now that reduces the installation costs.

I used Phillip at Electronics Unlimited...I bought my dish used from a friend, with one DVR/Receiver...used that for a few months, then bought another DVR/receiver off of eBay and had Philip come back and install another dish (he provided it) so I could get HD...now I have the old receiver downstairs, running two different TV's and the HD receiver upstairs, also running two TV's. No complaints.

Marty,

Friends have been talking that actual physical size of the Dish has gotten smaller? Is this true? I'd like to do dish network but have been turned off with the huge size of the dish. Someone said the footprint has been enlarged and a smaller 36" dish is all that is needed? Do you know anything about the dish size for Dish Network?

Thanks
Tippi

30 inch Dish500 now works great!

On STX contact Paradise Satellite or PM me.

Marty,

Thanks for the info! I take it the 33.5 was for HD. Good to know.....Having smaller dishes makes it more attractive than a huge dish to deal with.

What do you do when it rains?

Thanks again

One small dish now gets satellite 119 and 110.
HD free
Rain fade will happen but it's usually minimal.

Sky-

If one dish will do it and HD is free, why do I have two dishes? I have had to call DishNetwork in the past and have had some issues, being located where we are, but at least my TV works...

Alrighty then thanks for the info. Off to Ebay to look for the receivers.

For the DIY'ers here I found this site that helps point the dish.... http://www.dishpointer.com/

Why ebay when the receivers are FREE from Dish with a new account? Also be careful you don't buy receivers that have a balance due or previously leased. You might be buying a door stop. If you inquire about the receiver number you can call Dish before you buy it to inquire about transferability.

Marty,
2 dishes was the solution before the new launches. Now one dish works perfectly. Many people have systems that are several years old and consist of all kinds of configurations. Things have been changing and signal has improved.

What about satellite 129? Will that small dish pick up 129?

129 isn't an option here.

Update on our Dish installation!

DONE. A complete DIY with the help of Ebay for equipment.

Happy with the service even MORE excited that we no longer watch FOX out of PR or the local ABC station. We watch the network channels on 241 through 248 with much better picture than cable.

So it can be done!

Good day All,

We live on STX, and just had Dish installed---2 receivers, 1 dish. Free installation and equipment with a 2 year contract, and intro rate of $49 for the 200 channel pcakage---to increase to $65 after 1 year.

I'm told they also go to STT for installation. Go to Dish Network Puerto Rico, and inquire direct with them.

If you do DISH install yourself with purchased equipment there is no contract. This works better if you are unsure of the length of your stay or usage. It is expensive to get out of a contract and the equipment can not be reused. DISH will not activate it. Just saw a complete system at consignment shop on STJ for 450, big dish, receivers, and mounting pole.

We have been on island 20+ years, however signing a contract didn't excite us. This is exactly why chose to DIY the project just as you stated above.

It's good to know about the $49 buck install, when we called around to the local suppliers it was like $1,000+. Glad to see it's available for those it don't want to DIY for a reasonable amount.
