Well this (on our statesdide Vets recommendation) doesn't work. We got the 8lb bag 3 days ago and our poor kitty Eden is not doing well on it. She has some mystery food allergy and vomits blood on certain foods. I was able to order the stateside food that we know works for her but had to buy the ZD for the few days it would take for shipping. We've only used about 2 cups total and its a 8lb $62 bag.

STJ was the only place that had this and will return it for us but its going to cost $50 to go over there, parking, safari, and ferry.

I'd like to see if anyone needs or uses this and I'd like to offer it for $40.00. Thanks!

G'day AnA2,

🙁

Sorry kitty isn't tolerating the special diet, especially after your valiant efforts! Been there many times (trying to strike a balance w/ *four* cats at different ages and health needs).

BTW, No, we're not the crazy cat-lady (couple) ... and I'll thank the "supernatural existential" along with the savvy engineer for making the CatGenie. Nothing better than an automated, self-wash, sanitize, air dry, and dispose auto litter box. We discovered that trick (along with an auto dry food dispenser) during a first visit to STX. They are great companions when playing with my hobby, which made made a PMV to STX really fun. http://wc3q.blogspot.com/p/about.html

Side question: Does Eden have any history of puddy pancreatitis? Might consider a vet visit to rule-out that (or similar) condition, if things persist or worsen. One of our guys here had a similar behavior that we thought was an allergy. Seems protein levels in many foods can trigger a puddy pancreatic attack as they mature.

May y'all stay well, and I hope someone can take this kitty treat off your hands.

Cheers,

John

I read this as I'm watching a BBC show about endangered species being sold on the streets of Indonesia. One particular marsupial has dangerous venom in its mouth, so they rip their teeth out...

Thanks so much, she will be ok, she did this off and on for the first year until we had spent $2,500 on several ER visits and subsequent xrays and testing. The only result was a mild allergy to grain although one of her bloodwoork panels showed an abnormality which they believe is another "unknown" allergy. They suggested a biopsy of her stomach and bowels at a cost of another $2k. Which I just couldn't do at that time, and really not now either. Personally I believe she has chronic gastritis with a mild case of inflammatory bowel disorder. im no vet but I did work for one for 3 years and like to think I picked up something lol. As long as she gets the Royal Canin she is perfectly fine. She can eat the Hills "ID" in a pinch but does get a watery eye which is some sort of allergy I'm sure. I have also thought about making my own food but I worry about the correct levels of vitamins and minerals.

We switched her food after those first tests to Royal Canin adult PV (Pea and Venison) limited ingredient and she has been without an issue for 3 years. Since we moved here (we brought 2 bags) but when those ran out we fought with Royal Canin on shipping here. We tried MANY online vendors and Amazon to no avail. We returned from vacation last week and unfortunately the boyfriend didn't order the Hills ID before we left so we were close to out. He got a good scolding by me, and the only thing we could find was the ZD and its a no go for sure. After the first bowl she started vomiting. Its very mild right now, just a foamy and light pink. Some foods give here massive (and VERY scary) dark bloody vomit and horribly smelly very blood diarrhea.

I was able to order earlier this week (and the order actually went through) Amazion - "to_your_health" store 2 bags of the Royal Canin PV that shows it will be delivered today! I will be having my parents stateside send us 2 bags every 2 months from now on, as the ID just isn't as good as we like.

If I cant sell the food to anyone who needs its I will just give it to the humane society but would like to at least try to recoup some $ for the $180 in food I just spent. Cant nobody say I don't love my kitties lol!

Sorry about your troubles with your kitty.
Have you tried making your own cat food? I have friends that make their own dog and cat food due to allergies, etc..
(Alas for my gang, I am not one of them)
Maybe kitty just cannot handle processed foods of any kind.
I think any company that sells an 8 lb. bag of cat food for $62.00 should be charged with theft/fraud and jailed.
That, to me, is obscene.
Incredible how they take advantage of people who love their animals.

You can call Dellia at Lucky Paws Foundation/513-1854
She single handedly rescues many cats and dogs and can always use a donation of food, especially for special needy cases she will strive to keep alive where they will just get put down at the shelter.
