Will have a 2-BDR, 2-BTH condo at Schooner Bay available in early August. Rent is $2200 per month. Renovated and with a lot of new furnishings (plush couch/love seat/chair in LR, not rattan) and appliances within past year. Washer/dryer in unit. View is across Altoona Lagoon and out to the Caribbean, making you feel like you are in a rural area even though you are conveniently located in town. Cable tv and Terminix are included in the rent. Tenant pays water and WAPA, plus telephone and/or internet if you want them. Master has king bed. 2nd BDR has two twins.

For anyone looking for an inexpensive place to use as a base of operations for a PMV during the month of July, I have a studio condo in Christiansted at a great low rate. It goes under a long-term lease starting August 1st. It is much less expensive than a hotel and includes a kitchen to save big $$ on eating out during your stay. I can send photos and info if you email me at stcroixhomes@hotmail.com with your request.

Hi Alexandra,

My friend and I are looking to move to STX in October, through January. We would be willing to live in a 1-bedroom (with twin beds) or possibly a 2-bdrm depending on the rent. We are 25 years old, very responsible...just looking to get away for a couple of months, and work on a beautiful island! Please email us with any availability/pictures you might have. I know this is a little soon to be looking, but we want to get on top of it!

Thanks,
Meghan

At this point, I don't have a clue what will be vacant for October through January on a short-term lease. Please ask again about a month out from your expected date of arrival and I can give you more specific information and send photos of whatever is available. You should expect to pay more per month than tenants pay for long-term leases and the rate quoted will probably include utilities. If you are renting for several months, you do save versus the weekly tourist short-term rental rates.

You are coming at the most popular time of the year when rentals get scarce and prices rise. Most landlords with properties in long-term rental will prefer 6 month to 1 year leases if they have other applicants rather than sign up someone for just a few months of high season and then have their unit vacant again going into the spring/summer.

Dear Meghan,

One thing Alexandra didn't say. When you have decided when you are arriving, you should call or e-mail Alexandra (or whoever) and speak to her directly about your requirements.

We hear from people all the time who MIGHT be coming, etc. etc... Most business people won't even talk to you until you are standing if front of them

I know it sounds hard and maybe strange, but, well, it is what it is.

Good luck,

I am considering a teaching position offered on St Croix. One factor in my
decision is housing. I'd be interested in a one bedroom apt. Can you
give me any pointers? I'd be arriving second or third week in Aug.

Perhaps you could recommend an inexpensive short-term rental I
could use while looking for a more permanent place.

I would expect my residency to be multi-year.

Thank for your help.
