My boyfriend and I are possibly relocating to the VI. We will be flying in for a week Sept 18th for an interview & apartment scouting. The move won't be until Oct- Nov possibly.

We will need a 1-2 bdrm rental for around $1,000.00 on either STX or STT. We do not smoke, no pets, no children and we are VERY clean.

Apartment must have A/C (or be in a cooler climate), good plumbing, (fully furnished optional), full kitchen with appliances.. and in good condition (and clean). Looking for a location close to Seaborne Airlines docks rather than across the island.

Please provide as much detail as possible. Pictures would be great as well.
You may e-mail me at masont26@excite.com

Thanks,
Tiff

in a cooler climate? like Minnesota or Alaska? lol. Sorry... that one just sounded funny as I read it.

STX has dry and wet areas, but the entire island is in the 80's all year around. No cooler climate to be found. Some areas have better breezes than others and that is what you really will be seeking. Good luck with Seaborne and your apartment search!

Hello there. I may have an apartment, or a lead to one through Alexandra on this board, however I think that either raising your suggested rental amount OR the number of stipulations might be important. For example, I can certainly work with getting an air conditioner put in, however, the cost of electric is extremely high, and that would impact the rent.

The time you are going to be looking will also be approaching high season. As such, I often get (near Christiansted) over $2,000 per month for an efficiency, less for a multiple month rate. When you mention things like plumbing, it kind of throws me off as a landlord as, although all of the plumbing works and has been expected, I honestly do not know if there is copper piping in the walls which is prone to unexpected leaks due to a higher saline content in city water.

I think that finding an apartment that is nice that meets your dollar amount is possible. Using words like "would prefer" or "in generally good condition" will go much further than many stipulations. You, of course, can ask all of these questions when you visit. Many of them will be answered when you either call or look at a possible rental.

One other thing is that if you are looking in November and find something very close to what you want, take it. Last year, I believe that both islands hit capacity very early. In that event, it is not a matter of preferences, it is more that of whether anything at all is available.

I am not an expert in these matters, however if you want any other specific information, please private message me and I will certainly do what I can to provide information or help in any way I can.

Best wishes,

Daniel
