my fiance, pets, and myself are looking to relocate to STX. We are looking for an apartment or house that is on the east end close to gallow's bay, we are going to be employed near there. So far everyone has been very helpful with advise and information. Unfortunately this is a very urgent time. We must be down there by the end of Sept. Should we set set something up short-term and find something else when we get down there? Just wondering. Thank you all very much

Finding pet-friendly rentals can be tough and you usually do need to be on the island to make that happen. The catch-22 part is that finding short-term rental space that will allow pets is also next to impossible. Many people leave the pets with family on the mainland until the housing that will allow them has been arranged. If that is not possible then you will have to be creative and/or get lucky.

One such creative option might be to arrange in advance to kennel your pets at Island Animal Clinic for a few days while you scramble to find long-term housing. Dr. Hess is a popular veterinarian and you can visit your pets each day while they are kenneled to help them with the stress of all they are going through.

Good Luck!

PS: you told me in a PM what your budget is for housing, but if you include that in your posting you may get some specific properties recommended by other people on this website. My lowest priced pet-friendly rental in that area is $1500 per month.
