The St. John Community Crisis Center has rescheduled the M.L.K. Jr. Picnic for Peace . The event will now be held February, 2nd 2008 from 10 am to 3pm on the National Park Ball field on St. John. Dr. King and others brought to life a legacy of tolerance, peace and civil rights for all; our agency is dedicated to preserving these ideals and keeping his dream alive. We acknowledge that it is not the date of the celebration but the intention of recognizing the struggles of people all over the world whom Dr. King and others rallied for. We hope to spread this message of hope and determination, especially to the young people in our community and offer ideas for a positive lifestyle and healthy opportunities. There will also be various community groups such as the Boy Scouts, Young Democrats, Department of Labor, the Delegate to Congress's office and many more sharing their information. All youth groups are especially encouraged to attend. We will be enjoying the dazzling sounds of The Love City Pan Dragons, as well as the daring displays of the Love City Leapers jump rope team. We will be serving a free community lunch and have the smooth reggae rhythms of our very own Inner Visions. Highlights will also include a dunk tank, face painting, games and arts & crafts for the youth. Please bring your family and come to enjoy a Picnic for Peace in honor of Dr. King and help to keep the Dream alive.
