Healing Paws Sanctuary, Inc. is a VI registered non-profit currently filing for 501(c)(3) and actively working to establish an animal sanctuary on St. Croix, primarily for homeless cats and dogs in need of socialization, recuperation, or just a safe haven until an adoptive family can be found.
We are in the process of cleaning up a 9+ acre property and great house in preparation to build structures and runs for animals.
Once a month, on the first Saturday, we invite the community to join us for "Sanctuary Saturday", a work party day of cleaning, clearing and maintenance to help us build this haven for homeless pets. This Saturday, January 4, is no exception. We know it's parade day, but for the sake of consistency, Sanctuary Saturday will still be happening this week. Join us early, before the parade, or if you're skipping the parade this year, try a worthwhile alternative!
To help keep up with the grounds we've already cleared we NEED the use of a small trailer to haul a riding mower. If you, or someone you know, can lend us a trailer, either for Saturday, or sometime in the next week or so, please let me know.
A partial list of other things the sanctuary needs:
* a number of 5 gallon buckets
* Extension or multi-position ladder(s)
* working weed-whacker
* hedge trimmer (gas or electric)
* working portable generator
* scrap boards and plywood for concrete forms
* functional gutters and/or gutter material
* 4" pvc piping
* various and sundry building materials - What have you got?
This is a work in progress, if you have excess materials from a job, please let us know.

Where on St. Croix are you located?

I'm near east on the south shore near Great Pond. The property we're preparing for the sanctuary is in Estate Pearl, on the eastern side of Hovensa, near Junie's restaurant and Mike's Autobody.
