Good day

Do we have any parents in this group who are relocating (or have located) and are homeschooling?

I have a business called Home Educate VI (d/b/a Blyden Curriculum Consulting, LLC) that offer services to parents who homeschool.

I recently received a grant and would like to provide my services for homeschooling parents who are in need of financial assistance. I would be able to assist you with setting up your curriculum, consulting services, assessments, organization, portfolios, and tutorial services.

Congrats on the grant!!!!

I’d love to talk to you in preparation (my guy turns 5 in Feb, but is dying to learn everything about everything).  Due to his insatiable appetite to know literally everything, I’m thinking about starting him pretty quick … but ugh - I have no clue what I’m doing, so please give me even a nod in the right direction!?.

Thank you for this, I actually had no idea how badly I’ve wanted to start him until I read your post!

J.

@jes Hi. Jes     Thank you.

To homeschool in the VI, you need to get a Notice of Intent from the VI Department of Education. Just call them at 340-774-0100 and ask for the young lady in charge of home education. You will have to teach the correct subjects (core subjects: reading, language arts, social studies, science and math). A portfolio has to be kept, which will include samples of various types of assignments, assessments, projects, workbook samples, etc from the five core subjects. This website https://www.myviboe.com/sites/default/files/policies/Home%20Education%20Policy-signed.pdf  has the VIs home education policy.

However, this is for next school year since your child is not school age as yet according to VI system.
